TAX!

Often, the question of tax payment usually dominates discussions relating to revenue generation at the federal, state and local government levels. This is because tax is the most reliable source of revenue generation to the government. And in principle, it is the tax payers’ money that is usually used for developing the infrastructural systems that the society benefits from. For example, the provision of education, health cares service and other social amenities.
Tax is a compulsory levy imposed by the government on the income, capital of its citizens for the purpose of raising revenue. Its imposition is of course, backed by law. As such, tax education plays a very vital role in the scheme of things. Most people have no idea what tax is, or why it is an imposed levy, the benefits and advantages of tax. In Benue state, the government has adopted an approach that seeks to constantly put the issue of tax in the news. Radio Talk Shows have been aired, interactive programmes like the Tax Awareness Campaign (for secondary schools) of Miss Benue 2010 which was sponsored by the Board of Internal Revenue Service –BIRS.
However, young people in the state have not fully participated in any of these. And once young people are not involved as they should, they tend to be uncooperative and indifferent to such important issues as tax. The implication of this is that this sort of oversight is likely to result into a big problem in the long term...' for Benue related info visit www.iambenue.com
