THE NEED TO KNOW

Image
I have grown to see education more as being aware, not just as a resource for classroom knowledge. This is appealing because the outlook allows me to broaden my world view and to relate same to all aspects of human endeavor, for example the economy which i see as the reflection of the socio-cultural well being of a people and through which development is measured and appraised. I would summit that, it is important for young people to understand the role of awareness in issues of good governance, the politics of leadership, the law of averages and growth, human dignity and the rule of law in a given society. Clearly, the problem for young people is hinged on what i call the scale of information (knowledge, and from which civic participation and leadership, political will and the need to act in a certain impact-oriented way can be noted, and acted upon. Simply put, without adequate information, our response and performance will fall beyond expectation in matters that affect us

SCARS FROM THE PAST (Autobiographical Series)

Years ago, I erected a brick wall and ran head first into it. Experience they say; is the best teacher and often people are not even aware they are headed for a complete dead-end until they smack right into it as was the case with me. It began when I was given an opportunity to further my undergraduate programme, at the time, I was too immature to truly comprehend what that opportunity meant so I down played its significance. The implication of this blind move on my part was that I lost all bearing of what I was supposed to do, soon afterwards, including my obligation to my family and to other people who were willing to encourage my personal development. I realized too late that I needed to get back on track and started to run all over the place in search of a way to correct my mistake. Then too, I made the biggest mistake of my life by persuading myself to attempt this alone. And to conceal my act I gave off the impression that all was good. Although I met a few influential people w

Revisiting the Issue of CLIMATE CHANGE.

Climate change has always been a challenge requiring a constructive finance channelling. However, for rural communities in Nigeria and many parts of sub-sahara Africa nothing concrete has happened. The awareness is zero effective and it is as if the danger has passed, if anything, climate change is rather building up where appropriate measures are not taken. Even still the population in the urban settlements hardly ever make any reference to climate change and global warming, this has become a constant worry. If this is the case, imagine how ineffective the awareness in the rural areas is. In a world where we (young people) dominate, we must play our part in the campaign for a green world regardless of which part of Africa we come from. We must pay attention and stop taking climate change as a joke. Groups and individuals alike must be involved in the campaign for a safe, clean world. Our governments should create a platform that will allow them time to ease into educating the Niger

WHY ARE YOU THERE

Image
There is something that most of us never do, that is ask ourselves why we want certain things; power, influence, fame or fortune. To stay honest, atleast to ourselves, we all need to understand our motives for what they really are. Questions like, what makes us so sure that we are the people who should get put out there, where things are happening, and how we plan to get there? If you want to get into politics or are already a politician, ask yourself why politics or why are you a politician and how did you get into politics? Are you in for the right reasons or not? These and more are the kind of questions that you need to answer. It does not matter If you are a civil servant, an engineer, a student, a business owner, a designer or in some other proffession, field or career, the same thing should apply. Every man/woman has a reason for going after control. True or False? There are three categories of people who go after things: >Those who get into things for the wrong reasons. The
