Experience is EVERYTHING!

  1. Knowledge and skill acquired is everything. This is a belief that I subscribe to given its relevance to me and probably many other people out there. A few years ago, what began as a brief holiday economic activity, spanned over a 3-year stretch and has put me in a position where I can rightly say I earned.
  2. In 2013, a few others and I worked with some expatriates under a company called Acciona Producciones y Diseno from Spain, contracted to equip the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) main building with Audio/Visual Operating System, Glass Shelves for mounting Artefacts and also to install the Lighting System. At the time, it was about making some extra cash; this expectation was eventually replaced with the need to learn and apply something new. And truly, the experience gained from working with these APD guys over the cause of three years has provided a job option as an Audio/Visual Technician in 2016.
  3. It should interest everyone reading this to note that, Presidential Libraries are new to Africa, and OOPL is the first to be established in this part of the world. The Library captures Former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s journey through life; from birth to the present day.
  4. Manning the Audio/Visual Maintenance and Operating System Department puts me and Abel Oyibo, a good friend, squarely in the day to day activity at OOPL Abeokuta, just as much as it gives me the opportunity to further acquire an in-depth know-how that goes hand in glove with this kind of setting.
  5. Before now, I didn’t know much about the Spanish people. Spending a considerable amount of time with them; comparing notes, learning about their way of life and work ethics, irrespective of the language barrier, I have quite a few pointers in that regard. Moreover, I have a direct line to the ADP Team of experts who have delivered around the world, especially where Museums and International Libraries and Galleries are concerned.
  6. The patience of the APD guys, diligence and commitment to work and the fact that they took their time to expand my technical know-how, has given me something that others are working hard to get.
  7. To top it all, I have their friendship and confidence, plus an ever expanding network in that part of the world to be thankful for.
